OBITUARIES

ARIETANO, Emily 92, of Seminole, passed away Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at Largo Medical Center. Born in Mesalina, Sicily, Italy. Move to FL in 1973 from NY. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She is survived by son John Arietano and wife Nancy of Manville, NJ; nieces, Janet Recupero, Rosalie Constantini; and nephew Joseph Scocuzza. There will be a Visitation 11am until service time at 1pm on Monday, Sept. 14, at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes, 7820 38th Ave. N, St. Petersburg.

BEDNAR, Anne C. 86, of Brooksville, passed away Sept. 9, under the loving care of Gulfside Regional Hopsice of Pasco County. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she moved here in 1979, from Huntington, LI, NY with her husband Robert who died previously. Anne enjoy sewing, cooking, dancing and family. She is survived by sons Edward (Eileen), Robert Carlton (Barbara), Kenneth and Ronald; sister Mary Tuohy; brothers Richard and John Mineo.

BUETZOW, Frank F. 52, of Seminole, has been called to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Sept. 5. Frank was born on Aug. 30, 1957 in New Port RI. He graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy, PA in 1975. He graduated from Tampa College with degrees in accounting & computer sciences. He was a senior business credit specialist at Bank of America. Later a tax associate at H&R Block. Frank was dedicated to the church music ministry as well as a talented pianist and composer. He was an organist at Bay Pines Lutheran Church, Seminole, assisted at Faith Lutheran in St. Petersburg & others as needed. He set a fine example as a wonderful Christian husband and father. He was preceded in death by parents, Frank & Anna Buetzow; his mother, Luise Pfeiffer; his brother & sister. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 25 years, Cheryl; son, Daniel; daughter, Maria; Dieter & Maria Dietrich; nephews, Jacob & Evan & parents; niece, Nicole Tavares in Massachusetts; his father, Gunter Pfeiffer & family in Massachusetts; family in Germany & many friends. COUNTS, Lola B. 95, passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009. She was born in Vernon, FL in Washington County and moved to Dover, FL as a young child. Lola later came to St. Petersburg in 1925. Lola became one of the first members of Allendale United Methodist Church and was active teaching Sunday and Bible School for 35 years. She was active in PTA with her 5 children throughout their schooling and was a leader in both Boy and Girl Scouts. Since the early 50's, she summered in Franklin, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonzie; oldest son, Ray; parents, Charles and Lizzie Porter; and 12 siblings. She is survived by her children, Norris (Marlene), Rena Wheeler, Robert (Judy), and Ken (Linda); sister-in-law, Carol Porter; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grand-children and great-grand-children. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009 at 11 am at Allendale United Methodist Church, 3803-Haines Road N. FISHMAN, Morris passed away at the age of 58 in Clearwater, on Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, leaving behind many broken hearts of those who treasured him. He was born in Des Moines, IA on Aug. 12, 1951. Morris was an alumnus of the University of Iowa and a true Hawkeye through and through. He was a beloved husband, amazing father, adored grandfather, incredible son and brother and a one of a kind friend to many. In 2002, after years in the north, Morris and his wife moved to Tarpon Springs and then to Clearwater in 2004 for a more laid back atmosphere, the sun and most of all boating. He was truly in his element while boating, surrounded by his family and entertaining his friends. Morris left this world way before his time and he will be remembered by many as a kind hearted, fun-loving, one in a million individual. Morris will forever be remembered by his wife, Diane Fishman; his three children, Josh Fishman (wife, Denise Fishman), Stacey Fishman (fiance, Bryan Marotta) and Jeremy Fishman (wife, Angie Fishman), his grandchildren; Jordan Fishman, Kadie Fishman, Conner Fishman and Emma Fishman, his mother Linda Fishman, his sister Ann Baum and brother Steven Fishman. HICKS, Rene' J. Sr. 90, of Clearwater, died on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 after a long illness. Rene' was a veteran of WWII having served as a 1st Lieutenant with the U.S. Army in the Persian Gulf Command. Rene' is survived by his wife of 64 years, Phyllis Igo Hicks; his daughter, Babette (Richard) Bishop of Patchogue, Long Island; his son, R. LaBARGE, Norman Joseph "Jack" 84, peacefully passed away on Aug. 21, 2009 in Chandler, AZ. In 2004 he moved to Largo, and enjoyed weekly outings with his family. Jack loved dancing and listening to his friends sing. He is prece-ded in death by his parents, Oscar and Emelda (Thouin) LaBarge; his wife Joyce (Lessard) and brothers: Rene, Lester and Raymond LaBarge. Survivors include his sisters, Lorena (Tom) Goble and Anita (John) Kouniotis of Massachusetts; son Norman (Leah) LaBarge of Arizona and daughter Sharon (Paul) Zeltzer of Oregon; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Burial will be held Sept. 26, 2009 in Skowhegan, ME.

LARAWAY, Kenneth M. Jr. 70 of Hudson, passed away on Sept. 11, 2009. Visitation will be held at Grace Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. Born in Waterbury, CT, in 1938, Ken moved to Florida in 1961 and moved with his wife and children to Pasco County in 1973. He founded Florian Insurance, Inc in 1973, which is now owned by his daughter Laura Hart. Ken was the organizer and first president of the Hudson Rotary Club. He was always proud to say he was a "Hudson Gopher". Some of his most memorable achievements with the Rotary were helping build the Hudson High School Football Stadium, working with local homeless shelters, and volunteering at countless Hudson Seafest Celebrations. He was recently presented with an award for 34 years of perfect attendance. Ken retired in 2003 and traveled extensively with his wife, Erma. Ken is survived by Erma Z. Laraway, Kenneth Marshall Laraway, III and Laura Laraway Hart. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donation be made to the Hudson Rotary Club, P.O. Box 5321, Hudson, FL, 34674. LEVIN, Barry Livingston of Palm Harbor died on Sept. 12 at the age of 91. He received his Ph.D. from Columbia University and was a professor at the University of Missouri, Columbia, on the occasion of his retirement. He served in the Army during WWII and received an honorable discharge in 1946 at the rank of technical sergeant. Following his retirement, Dr. Levin and his wife, Ruth Levin, moved to Palm Harbor, where they were active members of Temple Ahavat Shalom.
