MAN ACCUSED OF GROPING AT HIGH SCHOOL

Police have arrested a Bradenton man who they say sneaked into two high schools Friday and groped a student.

Sergio Negrin Jr., 24, was taken into custody Monday on charges of stalking and lewd and lascivious behavior. Police say Negrin sneaked into St. Petersburg High School after classes were over Tuesday afternoon. He first startled a girl who was changing clothes in a bathroom, then groped a student he encountered as she was walking to volleyball practice, police said.

The girl from the bathroom later saw the same man at Northeast High School while she attended swim practice. A staff member went to confront him, but he fled, police said.

Police released information about the incidents to the public on Friday, which included surveillance video of the man captured in both schools. On Saturday, a viewer saw the footage on Bay News 9 and called police to say the person in the video was Negrin.

Police obtained a warrant for Negrin and arrested him at his parents' home in Bradenton Monday evening. He was taken to the Manatee County Jail and held on $50,000 bail. He will be transferred to the Pinellas County Jail.

Police said Negrin is married and has no known previous criminal history.
