ADDEMS, Martha B. A memorial service for Martha B. Addems, 86, of St. Pete Beach, formerly of Lexington, IL, will be at 11 am, Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at Lexington First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Addems died at 2:59 pm Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, at the Allegro at College Harbor Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 20, 1923, to Oliver and Elsie (Kettering) Shives. She married William (Bill) Addems who preceded her in death in October, 1990. Mrs. Addems is survived by four children, Robert (Shirley) of Polk City, Diane (the late Ed) Hussemann of St. Pete Beach, Babette (Steve Evans) of Longwood, and Bonita (Dennis) Wilson of Lexington, IL. Also, surviving are 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Addems was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and James Shives and a sister, Treva Moberly. Mrs. Addems was a 70 year member of Lexington First United Methodist Church. BENOIT, Joseph Henry Jr. 51, of Silver Springs, passed away on Sept. 12, 2009, at Tuscany House in Summerfield. A native of Brockton, MA, Joe attended St. Patrick's Catholic School in Brockton and served as an altar boy. He was an avid scuba diver since the age of 16 and a Golden Gloves boxer, even fighting at Madison Square Garden in New York. He was then trained, after turning professional, by Marvelous Marvin Hagler's trainer. Joe was a former staff associate for Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memory Gardens in Ocala and a former transportation specialist for Alternative Transportation Services of Homosassa. Mer Benoit is survived by his daughter, Debra Bolinder of St. Petersburg; former wife Georgia Bolinder Clements of Silver Springs and grandchildren Jaelyn Spisak and John and Anthony Torres, all of St. Petersburg. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 16th, at 2:30 pm from Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Ocala, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. BENSON, Roy 83, of the Bay Mariner at Indian Shores, passed away on Friday, Sept. 11, at Woodside Hospice, Pinellas Park. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, and moved to Florida 18 years ago from Hackensack, NJ. Mr. Benson worked at Chase Manhattan Bank for over 40 years prior to his retirement and relocation to Indian Shores. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II. Roy leaves behind his loving wife, Kathleen of Indian Shores; son Matthew of Denville, NJ; two daughters, Nanette Branch of El Cajon, CA and Christine Benson of Hackensack, NJ; son-in-law Stephen R. GRANGER, Beverly Age 46, of Indian Rocks Beach, passed away Sept. 12, 2009, at Woodside Hospice Center in Pinellas Park. She was the founder and owner of the Granger House Inn, a landmark on Indian Rocks Beach. She was a real estate agent for several years and also a critical care nurse in Los Angeles, New York City and Tampa hospitals. She is survived by her husband Joseph Mazza and two step daughters Christina and Jacqueline; her parents William and Elaine Granger; brother Bill and his wife Renee and niece Chelsea. She also leaves a very close friend and business acquaintance Richard Schaal. Beverly has many friends who love her dearly. KIRSCHBAUM, August "Gus", born Aug. 1, 1928 in Ludwikow, Wolhynien. He was a Lutheran and passed away on Aug. 29, 2009. He came to America from Germany in 1957 and settled in Chicago. He moved to Florida in 1972. He was employed at the Wine Cellar Restaurant in North Redington Beach until his retirement. His three-year apprenticeship as a waiter was in Germany. His highlight professionally was being chosen to serve on U.S. President Hoover, German Chancellor Adenauer, and German President Heuss at prestigious state dinners. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elfriede, and son Steven, and 2 daugthers; Evelyn Leonard and Ingrid Paetzold; three grandchildren; two brothers, Alwin in Illinois and Adolf in Germany; and many relatives. LaBARGE, Norman Joseph "Jack" 84, peacefully passed away on Aug. 21, 2009 in Chandler, AZ. In 2004 he moved to Largo, and enjoyed weekly outings with his family. Jack loved dancing and listening to his friends sing. He is prece-ded in death by his parents, Oscar and Emelda (Thouin) LaBarge; his wife Joyce (Lessard) and brothers: Rene, Lester and Raymond LaBarge. McKIBBEN, Robert Dale 87, of Pinellas Park, passed away Sept. 11, 2009. Dale was born Feb. 5, 1922 in Shoals, IN. He was a Boilermaker on the NYC Railroad in Mattoon, IL. OLIVER, Harry, M.D. Summer resident of St. Petersburg, passed away over Labor Day weekend surrounded by friends and family in Lockport, NY. Dr. Oliver was born in Buffalo, NY, attended Kenmore High School, Hamilton College, Syracuse University & received his M.D. degree from University of Buffalo School of Medicine. He became certified by the American Academy of Family Practice. He faithfully served the Niagara County community since 1954. At the time of his death he was on the Board of Directors of a nationwide quality assurance company for health care. During and after WWII, Dr. Oliver served in the Army Air Corps and the U.S. Army. Throughout his lifetime, Dr. Oliver was an avid reader, earned two black belts in the martial arts and enjoyed tennis and golf. His family knew him as a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Sharon; four sons and several grandchildren. There will be no visitation times. A private memorial service will be held in the future at the discretion of his family. SCHMIDT, William G. 86, passed away Aug. 20, 2009, at Oak Manor Healthcare Center. He was born in Queens, NY and was a long time resident of Largo. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gretchen Leseur Schmidt of Largo and by his sister, Jeanne Huber of Covesville, VA. As a youth, he was employed as a messenger by CBS, where he was able to observe many facets of early radio. After military service and graduating from Alfred University in 1950, he was employed for many years by the General Electric Company, first in Schenectady, NY and then at the Pinellas Plant in Florida, where he was the plant's ceramic engineer. He served in World War II in the Army Air Force as a radio technician on Guam, servicing the radios on the B-29 bombers stationed there. After discharge, he joined the military reserve and was recalled to active duty for the Korean conflict. He served this second hitch in the U.S. Navy, stationed mainly in Florida. He was an avid Civil War buff and enjoyed skirmishing. In 1965, he joined a small group of men who would shoot competitively using Civil War weapons. That very small group grew and now is known as the North-South Skirmish Association which draws large numbers of people to the competitions. Bill won a number of medals while he was still able to compete. In later years, he enjoyed eating out weekly with a small group of other GE retirees.

WILDE, Evelyn Marie 81, of St. Pete Beach, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009. She was born in Petaluma, CA, was a winter resident of the area for 20 years and permanently moved to St Pete Beach in 2008. She was a code clerk with the U.S. State Department, a teacher in Guam as well as the Panama Canal Zone. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
