Some of the can't-miss events in the county

Cross country, West Hillsborough Invitational at Al Lopez Park, 6 tonight: Of the county's three geographically-based invitationals today, this shapes up as the most interesting — at least on the boys side. Plant, the county's deepest team, should prevail, but the individual title will be up for grabs. Plant's Bo Nalsen? Robinson's Bryan Garcia? Jesuit's Blake Lopez? Berkeley Prep's Tyler Greathouse? Get the picture?
Boys golf, Plant vs. Riverview at Summerfield, 3 p.m. today: The unbeaten Panthers face what could be their stiffest challenge to date against Ian McConnell and Co.
Volleyball, Riverview at Sickles, 7:30 tonight: Two teams off to good starts. Take away a 3-0 loss to Plant and Riverview has dropped just one game this season. Sharks sophomore Sarah Burrington is averaging 4.8 kills a game.
Swimming, Steinbrenner at Sickles, 6 tonight: The Gryphons are one of the top programs in the state, but now with Steinbrenner taking a dip in their pool — literally and figuratively — this should be an interesting dual meet.
Swimming, Plant at Tampa Prep, 6 p.m. Thursday: The Panthers boys are coming off a nice win at this weekend's City Relays, but the Terps won a big dual match over Wharton last week.
Volleyball, Berkeley Prep at Archbishop Mitty tournament, Friday-Saturday): The Buccaneers, ranked 13th in the nation by PrepVolleyball.com, head across the country to San Jose, Calif., for one of the nation's top tournaments, hosted by the second-ranked team in the country.
Cross country, Mountain Dew Invitational at University of Florida, 5 p.m. Friday: Chamberlain, Berkeley Prep and Armwood are among the 30 or so prep teams set for this event on the UF Golf Course. Should provide a nice early-season gauge for Chamberlain boys standout Mark Parrish.
