Fort De Soto Park needs your touch

On Saturday, a special clean-up event will be held as part of the Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup Day. Last year, nearly 400,000 volunteers collected more than 6.8 million pounds of trash from oceans and waterways in 104 countries and 42 states.

The cleanup runs from 9 a.m. to noon at Fort De Soto Park, followed by a luncheon for volunteers at the Tampa Bay Watch Marine and Education Center. During lunch, Aquarius Spring will award Tampa Bay Watch a $50,000 grant to support its clean water initiatives.

Tampa Bay Watch is dedicated to protecting and restoring the marine and wetland environments of the Tampa Bay estuary encompassing over 400 square miles of open water and 2,300 square miles of highly developed watershed. Visit tampabaywatch.org.
