Bright House Sports Network is now carrying Southeastern Conference sporting events through 2013-14.
BHSN has signed an agreement with ESPN Regional Television to annually show six SEC football games, 20 men's basketball games, 18 women's games and up to 50 other events, including baseball, softball, soccer and volleyball. The first football game is Saturday night with Mississippi hosting Southeastern Louisiana at 7:30.
BHSN also has signed an extension with the Big East to show its events through 2012-13. That includes continued coverage of USF's football and basketball games.
The announcements come as Bright House Sports Network today celebrates its first anniversary.
"This is a perfect way to celebrate this milestone,'' said Elliott Wiser, vice president of corporate news and local programming. "We are the leader in local sports in the Central Florida and Tampa Bay areas, and now, with the addition of market-exclusive SEC games, we're bringing exceptional added value to all of our viewers."
As part of the agreements, BHSN will sponsor the Old Spice Classic, a basketball tournament set for Nov. 26-29 at Walt Disney World, and two college football bowl games: the St. Petersburg Bowl on Dec. 19 and the Papajohns.com Bowl on Jan. 2 in Birmingham, Ala.
