A man whose body was found in a Beacon Woods lake Saturday has been identified as Scott Michael Barry, 49, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. Neighbors along Wagon Wheel Lane found the body floating face down in the lake Saturday morning. By the water's edge were a backpack, bicycle and pack of generic cigarettes. Sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll also said investigators found a jug of vodka that was nearly empty. On Saturday, Doll said it appeared the man was homeless. Doll said Barry's last known address was Hillsboro Beach in Broward County. He said Barry's cause of death is pending the outcome of an investigation by the Medical Examiner's Office.

Ex-boyfriend jailed in armed assault

A 44-year-old man is accused of trying to break into an ex-girlfriend's home and trying to stab her and two men who tried to subdue him, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said. A report says John Warman of Zephyrhills left threatening messages on the woman's phone, including some saying he had hurt himself and was in the emergency room. Warman told authorities he was angry when the ex-girlfriend didn't respond to his pleas for comfort. The woman told deputies she saw Warman on Tuesday night standing outside her window on Lane Road, armed with two knives. Warman swung the knives at the woman and her two friends, the report said. None of the victims was hurt, but Warman was treated for injuries from the struggle. He is charged with armed burglary and aggravated assault.
