Both Alonso and Newsome posted big offensive numbers in the visiting Ravens' Thursday night victory.
Newsome took a 3-0 lead after Herold Gussman kicked a 10-0 yard field goal on the Wolves' first drive. Then Alonso needed just two plays to take the lead as Brandon Holloway scampered 72 yards into the end zone.
The Ravens were just getting warmed up, as Alonso struck again before the end of the first with a 12-yard pass from C.J. Bennett to Jesse Anaya. Bennett, who threw for 249 yards, contributed with his feet as well, running one in from 5 yards out to give Alonso a 21-3 lead going into halftime.
In the third quarter, Bennett found Holloway streaking down the left sideline, connecting for a 50-yard touchdown and 28-10 lead after Newsome's Darnell Tucker cut the lead to 11 on the previous possession. Newsome's finished with 289 yards of total offense.
"Holloway is quick and explosive, (Bennett) was just excellent," Alonso coach Mike Heldt said. "Those two have worked well together all year and we're going to keep it up."
