LAKE HIGHLAND PREP 26, BERKELEY PREP 0

On a very soggy night at Berkeley Prep, Lake Highland Prep prevailed 26-0.

Both teams had many opportunities to score in the first half, but turnovers and penalties kept the game scoreless. Berkeley Prep seemed in position to strike first after senior Matt Dowdle intercepted a Bobby Borcky pass. But two plays later Lake Highland intercepted Destin Nichols and the teams went into halftime scoreless.

One bright spot in the first half was Lake Highland senior Zack McCarrell, who carried the ball eight times for 104 yards. Lake Highland did not wait long to score in the second half, as senior fullback Jason Root pounded his way into the end zone on a 4-yard run. The Highlanders scored quickly again as McCarrell ran in for a 9-yard touchdown. McCarell finished with 13 carries for 168 yards. The Bucs could not get their offense started, turning the ball over three times, two on interceptions.

"We've just got to work a little harder next week," coach Dominick Ciao said.
