It was evident that Riverview used its extra time after last week's rainout to work on the running game.

The Sharks rushed for 363 yards Thursday in a win over Lennard (1-1), as Ronnie Johnson finished with 157 yards rushing and Terrance Carter had 103.

"That was big," Riverview coach Bruce Gifford said. "We needed to come out and run the ball tonight. ... We probably could have had two 200-yard rushers."

While Riverview (1-1) dominated on the ground, quarterback Jerid Heffers was 3 of 4 for 77 yards. He threw one interception.

Lennard quarterback Fred Porter threw two touchdowns and went 9 of 22 for 137 yards but had two interceptions, one that led to an easy Riverview touchdown.

Enoch Edouard and DeMyco Winston caught the touchdowns.
