A Hillsborough County fire medic was arrested Thursday on charges of exposing his genitals in public in recent, separate incidents in Hernando County, including one time outside a school, authorities said.
Julio Colon, 29, of Spring Hill faces two counts of exposure of sexual organs. He was being held Friday in the Hernando County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bail.
According to the arrest report, Colon was sitting in front of Challenger K-8 School in his dark blue Chevrolet Impala on the morning of July 29. A woman was jogging in front of the school when Colon stepped out of the car, yelled "Hey!" and put his arms out to the side to reveal he was naked, the report said.
The woman ran into the front office of the school as Colon tried to catch her attention again, the report said.
In the other incident, on Sept. 11, Colon is accused of driving past a 16-year-old girl who was walking along Broad Street and to her home and yelling something at her.
Colon followed the girl in his car, yelled at her and revealed that he was naked, the report said. As Colon fled, the girl got the license plate of the vehicle, the report said.
Using the license plate number, authorities were able to track down Colon. A few days later, the teenage girl identified a picture of Colon in a photo pack.
During an interview Thursday, Colon admitted that he had exposed himself to the women and committed similar acts throughout Hernando and Hillsborough counties. He told detectives that he "gets a rush" while exposing himself, according to the report.
Willie Puz, a spokesman with Hillsborough County, said Colon was placed on administrative leave with pay. He said authorities there were investigating the arrest and could not comment further.
Colon has worked at Hillsborough County Fire Rescue since April 17, 2006. He had no prior disciplinary actions in his file.
