ARMSTRONG, Garth W. 82, of Belleair Bluffs, passed away Sept. 17, 2009. He was born in Lynn, MA and grew up in Omaha, NE. Garth and his late wife. Betty Lou began spending winters in Florida in 1991 and moved here in 2000 from West St. Paul, MN, where they had resided for many years. He was a livestock buyer and served in the Merchant Marines and U.S. Army. Garth attended Anona United Methodist Church. He was an avid fisherman and golfer and member of Clearwater Country Club. He was predeced in death by his wife of 58 years, Betty Lou, and son Wayne. BELLOWS, Irma F. 87, of Largo, passed away on Sept. 9, 2009 at Hospice House Woodside. She was born on Aug. 26, 1922 in Elizabeth, NJ. She moved to Florida in the 1950s after World War II. She was married to the late Carlton "Carl" Bellows. She was employed with Rutland Banks for 22 years as an Administrative Assistant to Mr. Hubert Rutland, President and CEO. COLLER, Alma M 88, of St. Petersburg, died Sept. 18, 2009, at St. Petersburg General Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, NY she moved here in 1954 from Weston, CT. She was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing bridge and loved all animals. DICKEY, Robert "Bob" a resident of Dunedin for over 20 years, died in Fairbanks, AK on June 27, 2009. Born in Ohio, Bob was a proud volunteer for the City of Dunedin. He and his wife Barbara moved to Alaska to be near family several years ago. Bob graduated with honors from The University of Ohio, and from Ohio State University with a Masters Degree in Education. Awarded for his basketball and baseball skills, he later coached winning teams in both sports in Ohio. He was a Teacher, Coach, and Sales Representative for the Industrial Pump business. Bob served in the Army Air Force, WWII. He received The Lifetime Achievement Award from Lancaster, OH. He was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church and attended Zion Lutheran Church in Fairbanks where a memorial service was held in July. DIETZ, Ella A. 107, beloved mother and Nana passed away Sept. 14th at Manor Care Nursing Home, Dunedin, under the care of Hospice. She enjoyed a long and eventful life and treasured visits from her children and grandchildren. She was born in Bavaria, Germany, the eldest of 11 children, and came to America at the age of 20 via Ellis Island. She met her husband at a German singing club in Syracuse, NY, where her 3 children were born and resided for 40 years. She was a homemaker and prided herself on her cooking abilities. After the death of her husband, she remarried 7 years later and moved to Florida. Her second husband died of Alzheimer's disease and she lived alone at Highlands Lake till the age of 101. She then moved in with her daughter, Ruth until her passing. Ella is survived by her daughter, Ruth Adams of Palm Harbor; son, Howard Nothacker of Port Richey; daughter, Michelle McKinney of Nellysford, VA; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her remaining sibling, a sister, Hilda Frederick who resides in Seattle, WA. GREEN, Pernille Anne "Peg" 72, of St. Petersburg, died Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, while vacationing on Campobello Island, New Brunswick. She was born and raised in Warroad, MN. Naval orders brought Bob, Peg and family to St. Petersburg in 1977. She was a lifelong lover of music and an accomplished pianist and organist. For many years, she was instrumental in the preparation and presentation of bell, choral and children's programs at Christ Lutheran and Lutheran Church of the Cross. More recently she was a member of choral groups and substituted as a church organist throughout St. Petersburg and Tampa. She is survived by Bob, her husband of 53 years; four children, Trish Santana of Tampa, Sara of Tallahassee, twin sons, Brian of St. Petersburg and David of Huntsville, AL; nine grandchildren and brothers, George and Bob Berglund of Minneapolis, MN. HATT, Maureen Elizabeth "Mo" of St. Petersburg, passed away Tuesday at home after a battle with uterine (endometrial) cancer. She was 63. Born Dec. 7, 1945 in Providence, Rhode Island, the only daughter of the late Edward L. and Mary G. (McMay) Blais. At a very early age she was an accomplished pianist and had served as an organist in church. She attended and graduated from St. Marys Bay View Academy in Riverside, RI and a graduate of Rhode Island College. Before moving to St. Petersburg, she was a teacher for the Pawtucket, RI School Department, commercial copy writer, radio logger and tape producer for WADK Radio in Newport, RI After the move to St. Petersburg Mo married and later divorced the late Larry Hatt. A single parent she raised both of her children in the Crescent Lake area. She continued work as a lens grinder for Dynoptic Corp., became a successful Recruitment coordinator for the St. Petersburg Times, created and ran her own computer store and later settled down into what she described as her dream job, working with the Area Agency on Aging of Pasco Pinellas, Inc. Known as the Medicare Fraud Lady who loved to collect frogs - she absolutely loved inspiring and helping people. Survivors are a daughter, Elizabeth Ore of St. Petersburg and son, Robert Blais of Palm Harbor; four grandchildren oldest to youngest Samantha, Madison, Ethan and Garrett. The funeral will be a Mass held at 10am Thursday, Sept. 24, in St. Pauls Catholic Church, 1800 12th Street N. Her cremains will privately be scattered in the Atlantic Ocean by the family.

LaBARGE, Norman Joseph "Jack" 84, peacefully passed away on Aug. 21, 2009 in Chandler, AZ. In 2004 he moved to Largo, and enjoyed weekly outings with his family. Jack loved dancing and listening to his friends sing. LITTERAL, Jim "Lucky" 80, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 11, 2009. A wonderful husband and father, he is survived by Grace, his wife of 49 years; children Judy Friend and husband David, Sandi Rist and husband Jim, Tim Litteral and wife Kristy, Curtis Litteral and wife Errin, and Chris Litteral. LOVALLO, Leonard C. Died peacefully Sept. 17, 2009, at age 94, in Spring Hill. He was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and graduated from the University of Buffalo Law School in 1938. Leonard enlisted in the U.S. Army, 10th Mountain Division and served under General Mark Clark in the Italian Campaign. His unit suffered heavy casualties and Leonard was awarded, among many medals, the Bronze Star for bravery in combat. In 1947 Leonard married Arliss E. Leonard, and raised nine children, in Buffalo and later in Hamburg, NY. Leonard practiced law for many years in Buffalo, and in the late '70s, Leonard and Arliss retired to Spring Hill, where they lived together for more than twenty years. There Arliss died in 1999, with her devoted husband at her side. Leonard is survived by eight children, son, John (Judy); son, Lee (Marsha Stanley); daughter, Cecily; son, James; son, Toby (Patricia Lynch); son, Timothy (Susan Williams); son, Kirby (Lori Grikis); son, Peter (Cheryl); and daughter, Elizabeth (David Cantor). He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who are scattered across the U.S. and in Switzerland. During his final years Leonard enjoyed the company of his good friend, Theona "Toni" Mangano; his bridge partner, Nancy Lee, as well as the Timber Pines community. Leonard Lovallo was active the St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 1107 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, where a memorial mass will be held on Monday, Sept. 21, 2009 at 10am.

PITTS, James Samuel "Jimmy" 74, of Largo, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at Morton Plant Mease Hospital in Clearwater. He was born Dec. 29, 1934, in Blountstown. He is a military veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving duties on the Destroyer USS Gearing until 1959. After leaving the Navy, he started working for the Asplundh Tree Company and then Florida Power Corporation until he retired after 38 years of employment. During this time, he served as Largo City Commissioner and Vice Mayor of Largo. He belonged to the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and Kiwanis Club. He received his Bachelors Degree from Eckerd College. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife Sandra; son Jim Pitts II; daughter Kimmey Sullivan; granddaughter Sydney; grandsons Eric and Tyler. A celebration of his life will be at 1 pm on Oct. 17, 2009, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Largo. PRENN, Josephine S. "Patti" 86, passed away at Dolphin View on Sept. 12, 2009. Originally from NY, she moved to Florida in 1987 to be near her children. She was the most loving, considerate, caring and beautiful person one could have ever known and is deeply missed. She was preceded by her husband Joseph, son Alfred, daughter Janet, and grandson Jason. The majority of her remaining family is up north and they will deeply miss her and cherish the time spent with her. He was an U.S. Navy Aviation Machinist Mate 2nd class during WWII, where he received the Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross and was owner of Seminole Drugs for 32 years. Jesus Christ was Lord of his soul and his family was his life. Joseph leaves behind his children, Christine Ford, Kathleen Hutchison and Joseph M. Scarsella; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grand children; sisters, Mary and Gloria; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be Saturday, Sept. 26 at 2 pm at Countryside Christian Center. STOLTIE, Bernard P. Age 79, of Shelton, CT, died on Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 in Yale New Haven Hospital, New Haven, CT. Born in Chicago, IL on June 30, 1930, he was a son of the late Harry and Edith Dawson Stoltie. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a Connecticut resident for over thirty years. Mr. Stoltie was educated at the Illinois Institute of Technology and held various corporate positions until founding his own alarm business with his son. He was also a partner in the antiques business with his wife. He is survived by his wife, Carol A. Forest; a son, Philip J. Stone and daughter-in-law, Kim A. Stone of Gulfport, FL; a daughter, Susan B. Pfund of Palm Harbor; a sister-in-law, Marilyn H. Forest of Nashua, NH; eight grandchildren, Bryan P. Stone, Elizabeth A. Wargo, Todd M. Wargo, Zachary P.
