SPOOKY SITCOM'S THEME COMPOSER DIES

Vic Mizzy, who composed the theme music for The Addams Family and Green Acres, died Saturday in Los Angeles at age 93, Variety reported Monday night. Although he was most famous for his sitcom music, Mr. Mizzy also had a number of hits in the late 1930s, '40s and '50s. Doris Day sang his biggest hit, My Dreams Are Getting Better All the Time, in 1945. According to Variety, Mr. Mizzy played the harpsichord and sang the vocals for the The Addams Family theme, even coaching the actors on the "finger-snapping" scenes. His film scores included The Night Walker and five Don Knotts films including The Ghost and Mr. Chicken and The Shakiest Gun in the West.Services are scheduled for this morning in Mission Hills, Calif.
