The "Faith in Motion" series by Mindy Rubenstein won the 2010 Wilbur Award from the Religion Communicators Council, which honors excellence in the secular media in communicating religious issues, values and themes. Her pieces published in 2009 won in the newspaper series category.
The judges said they were "impressed with the length and breadth of the series, especially in this time of declining newspaper revenues and, in other newspapers, reduced commitment to such reporting." Rubenstein's work "points to the religious diversity in Florida and the myriad of folks that work to make communities a better place because of their faith commitments."
The council will present the awards April 9 at its annual banquet in Chicago.
