Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight said Thursday that an investigation began after an anonymous letter detailed the deputies' actions on May 27. According to an internal affairs report, the undercover anti-drug team members ordered dozens of alcoholic drinks, hassled waitresses and patrons, and snapped illicit pictures of themselves in the restroom.
