Authorities have dropped charges against a man who was accused last month of threatening three people with a gun while demanding they hand over a 1-year-old child. George Owen Chamberlain III, 25, of Zephyrhills, went to a house in Dade City late on May 3 with a friend, authorities said. Both were armed with shotguns. They wanted a 1-year-old baby, who was asleep inside the house. The mother of the baby, whose relationship to Chamberlain wasn't disclosed, wasn't there. Chamberlain and his friend argued outside with three people, aiming the guns at their heads and then firing at the ground, according to reports. Chamberlain also was accused of striking a 52-year-old man in the shoulder with the gun before leaving without the child. He was arrested on charges of aggravated battery and aggravated assault. But prosecutors declined to file formal charges against him and dropped the case.
