Two women were attacked by two dogs outside their DeLand home.
The women, both 20, told Volusia County deputies that they had just left their home shortly after midnight Monday when they were attacked by what appeared to be pit bulls.
The dogs, which came from around the side of the house, initially bit them on their legs, hands and arms. As the women struggled and fell to the ground, the dogs also bit them on their faces.
The women eventually escaped by getting into their house through a rear door. They were both taken to a nearby hospital. The dogs ran off and were not immediately found.
Coast Guard sends back 15 Haitians
The Coast Guard has sent home 15 Haitian migrants found in a disabled boat off Florida's Atlantic coast.
The Coast Guard said the Haitians' 24-foot boat was found early Thursday about 15 miles off Cape Canaveral. Authorities say one Jamaican national and a suspected smuggler were also on board.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials took custody of the Jamaican and the suspected smuggler Saturday. Authorities did not identify either person.
The Haitians were given food, water and medical attention aboard Coast Guard vessels.
