Today through Sunday

What's new: The Rays will get their first look this year at the Twins and their new home, Target Field. Minnesota (43-35) is in first place again in the AL Central, buoyed by its two big stars, 1B Justin Morneau and C Joe Mauer. They're also getting a solid season out of ex-Ray OF Delmon Young (.292, eight homers, 51 RBIs) and Tampa Catholic product OF Denard Span, right, who had three triples Tuesday in a win over the Tigers. Twins SS J.J. Hardy is on the disabled list with a left wrist contusion but might come off this weekend.

Key stat: The Twins are hitting .289 with runners in scoring position, best in the major leagues by percentage points over the Reds.

Connections: SS Jason Bartlett and RHP Matt Garza are former Twins; Young is a former Ray. Span is a Tampa Catholic product. CF B.J. Upton and Twins RF Michael Cuddyer are childhood friends.

Series history: This will be the teams' first meeting this season. The Rays are 39-53 all-time against the Twins and 17-31 in Minnesota. The Rays are 11-9 in their past 20 meetings.
