On the Spot Lube, a Land O'Lakes home-based business serving Pasco, Pinellas, Hernando and Hillsborough counties, is going green and will offer Amsoil, an environmentally friendly, 100 percent synthetic oil, which has the American Petroleum Institute's seal of approval.

Owner Ashok Visuvasam says synthetic oils produce less harmful emissions and reduce friction, allowing for better engine efficiency. Dr. Rao Musunuru, a cardiologist at the Heart Institute at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, 14000 Fivay Road, Hudson, was recognized as the 2010 Physician of the Year by the Florida Association of Physicians of Indian Origin. He received the award in recognition of his outstanding contributions and excellence in the field of medicine and humanity. Registered Nurse Wendolyn "Wendy" Colquhoun, a critical-care nurse at Community Hospital, 5637 Marine Parkway, New Port Richey, recently received national recognition for reaching a significant milestone in the nursing profession.

For the past 20 years, Colquhoun has consistently maintained CCRN critical care nursing certification offered through the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses Certification Corp. She was one of 1,432 CCRNs honored in 2010 by the corporation and the AACN for 20 years of continuous certification.

CCRN certification is an expert credential reserved for those who meet rigorous practice, continuing education and testing requirements in their specialty. It is not the same as an RN license, which assures the public that a nurse has the required entry-level knowledge and skills to care for patients.

Colquhoun is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and is working toward a graduate degree in nursing and health care education from the University of Phoenix.

Gulfside Regional Hospice's Thrift Shoppes will celebrate Christmas in July.

Beginning Tuesday and running through the end of the month, Christmas items will be available at all five locations. All of Gulfside's shops are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.

This summer, the Pasco County Library System will host a series of networking breakfasts for the business community beginning at 8:30 a.m. at local area libraries. The breakfasts are free to business owners interested in making new contacts and learning more about the resources available to them as a business owner in Pasco County.

The Friends of the Library will provide abreakfast of bagels, doughnuts, fruit, juice and coffee.
