The unbuilt mansion some residents have called the Edgewater eyesore may soon have a new owner - though it won't be the city. For months neighbors have pressured city leaders to buy the site at 570 Edgewater Drive and turn it into a parking lot or stormwater drainage. But City Manager Rob DiSpirito said Thursday that the bank that owned the land wanted $2 million - five times the city's appraisal. Finding no open grants or funds, the city's negotiations for the land froze. The bank is now speaking with another prospective buyer who has promised extensive work and landscaping, DiSpirito said. The site still has a building permit allowing the construction of a single-use home until 2012.
