After the Alien vs. Predator flicks sullied two action franchises, it's understandable that the makers of Predators (R) are calling their movie a reboot.
Director Nimrod Antal is serious about that (and his name, I'm sure). No matter that the Predators again stalking human prey in a jungle still look like mutant Rastafarians. This is an original movie. Honest.
At least none of the cast looks primed to run for governor someday, as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jesse Ventura did after the 1987 version.
Academy Award winner Adrien Brody plays Royce, a mercenary trapped on an alien planet with other cold-blooded killers and hunted by the Predators. Let's hope that Laurence Fishburne and supreme baddie Danny Trejo outlast Topher Grace in the body count.
Twentieth Century Fox didn't screen Predators in time for Weekend. A review is available at tampabay.com/features and Friday on Etc, Page 2B.
