WATCH FOR ...

Off the Matt: Garza, who threw 20 pitches in getting the save on Wednesday, has had issues with the Indians, going 1-4, 5.59 in seven previous starts.

No Laffey matter: Laffey made the team as a reliever then went to the minors and into the rotation. He is 1-1, 4.40 in three starts. In four games against the Rays, he is 1-0, 3.97.

Perspective of the day

Carl Crawford will be one of baseball's biggest free agents this offseason, but don't expect him to go the LeBron James route with an ESPN special to announce his decision. "That's too much attention for me," Crawford said. As for James going to the Heat? "They better win now. All that commotion, they better win at least one (championship)."

Now that's a helmet

Reliever Andy Sonnanstine modeled some new headgear this week - a custom-painted, Rays-style fire helmet delivered to manager Joe Maddon courtesy of St. Petersburg Fire Chief James Dean Large. "It's tremendous," said Maddon, who wore it for Thursday's postgame interviews. "I'm very proud of it."
