The Tampa Bay History Center and the University of South Florida's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute present a four-week course on the life and work of novelist, folklorist and anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston (Their Eyes Were Watching God). Filmmaker Kristy Andersen will discuss Jump at the Sun, her documentary about Hurston, and other speakers will be featured also. The course begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday and continues through Aug. 4 at the history center, 801 Old Water St., Tampa; cost is $40. To register, go to www.usfseniors.org. The history center will host a screening of Jump at the Sun, with a talkback by Andersen and Hurston's great-niece, Dr. Lois Gaston, at 7 p.m. Aug. 5; cost is $10.
