Authorities were searching for a robber who fatally shot a man near 37307 Oak St. early Saturday. Doug Tobin, a spokesman for the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, said the assailant approached a group of four people and, while robbing them, shot 31-year-old Agustin Hernandez. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died. Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay was offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the robber. The robber was described as is a black man, 16 to 25 years old with a light to medium complexion, Crime Stoppers said. He is thin, clean shaven and between 5 feet 8 and 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing a red sports jersey, dark shorts and a red bandanna around his neck, and might have been carrying an orange backpack. Blaze chases out 37 people
An fire early Saturday forced the evacuation of 37 tenants from a St. Petersburg apartment building, officials said. Firefighters who arrived at the three-story building at 360 13th Ave. NE at 4 a.m. found heavy smoke pouring from a first-floor apartment, according to St. Petersburg Fire Rescue. The blaze was contained to that apartment, but firefighters evacuated other tenants and rescued a woman who was found unconscious in an apartment. The woman, who uses a wheelchair and suffers from multiple sclerosis, regained consciousness and was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, Fire Rescue said. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
