A sinkhole that swallowed a car and forced the evacuation of a condo building Sunday could still be growing, officials said. Crews will try to stabilize the sinkhole in the parking lot of Bordeaux Village Condominiums, 12701 N 50th St., near the University of South Florida, sometime this week. On Monday afternoon, the sinkhole measured about 25 feet wide and 36 feet deep, said Dexter Barge, director of Hillsborough County code enforcement. A car that sat directly above where the sinkhole formed disappeared from sight by Monday morning and it is unclear whether or how it would be removed, Barge said. The condo building, where 11 families were living, was evacuated Sunday morning, and the American Red Cross is helping four of those families. There currently is no threat to other buildings on the property, Barge said, but code enforcement will monitor the situation.
