ALVARADO, Ramon Morales 86, formerly of Puerto Rico, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2010 in Tampa at the VA Hospital, an Army retiree who served in the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Raymond. Ramon is survived by his beloved wife, Norfy Morales; three sons, Ramon Jr., Ranfy, and William; three daughters, Bely, Janet, and Mayra; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Ramon was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching the Tampa Bay Rays. Ramon was a born again Christian who enjoyed praising God. BERKHEIMER, Helen B. 87, passed away Sunday, July 11th at her Madeira Beach home. Originally from Scranton, PA, she was a Florida resident since 1953. A WWII veteran of the Women's Reserve of the U.S. Naval Reserve (SP-S2); faithful member of Church by the Sea, she was also an avid gardener and loved to bake for family, friends and neighbors. CULHANE, Walter Lee "Bud" 95, of Clearwater, died on June 25, 2010 at Woodside Hospice from complications of a fractured hip. Born Sept. 4, 1914, he married the former Rose Ellen Fraser in 1934. They moved from Grant's Pass, OR to Honolulu for a year in the early 60s, but stayed for 25 years. He owned and edited the Fruita, CO Times, and worked as a printer for Grant's Pass Courier, Medford, OR Mail Tribune and the Honolulou Advertiser/Star Bulletin. Walter and Rose Ellen moved to Grant's Pass for retirement. Walter was a life time member of Grant's Pass Masonic Lodge #84, and of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, and the Florida Orchestra. He was a great lover of wildlife. He will be remembered as a true gentleman. He was predeceased by his wife, Rose Ellen, after 54 years of marriage, his son, William and his grandson, Christopher. He is survived by two granddaughters, Sarah Culhane of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Jennifer Moynihan of Westford, MA; two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Andrew Moynihan, and his daughter-in-law, Linda Culhane. He moved to Clearwater 3 years ago after a grueling winter in Oregon, and totally enjoyed his many friends at Bayview Gardens. A memorial service will be held at Bayview Gardens at 4 pm on July 15. EDWARDS, Joseph B. of Dunedin, died on July 11, 2010 at the age of 90. He was born in Columbus, OH, grew up in Worthington, OH, was a graduate of Ohio State University and a Navy veteran of WWII. He came here in 1961 from Cincinnati, OH. He was a teacher for 32 years in Ohio and Pinellas County. Joe enjoyed a lifelong participation in baseball from boyhood through retirement. GIORGIANNI, Sammy Kaye 68, of Valrico, ended his battle with leukemia surrounded by family on July 9, 2010. He was born in Muncie, IN. He served with the U.S. Navy before settling in Philadelphia, PA and later moving to Valrico in 1987. He is survived by his bride of 45 years, Faith; his son, Samuel Giorgianni; daughters, Michele Boyd and Nicole Shearer; grandchildren, Madison Boyd and Joey Shearer; and his brother, Joseph Giorgianni. Sam never met a stranger, and was a friend to everyone he met. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, neighborhood greeter, and dedicated husband and family man. He will be missed by many for his uncanny jokes, desire to make people smile, and his dedication to his family and friends. Many thanks to those that helped with his fight, especially his "angels" in the Oncology department at the J.A. Haley Veterans Hospital. KESSNER, Delores Elaine passed away peacefully on July 10th, 2010, in Clearwater. She was born on Sept. 13, 1928, in Waukesha, WI to Ervin and Elara Schroeder. Delores earned a BS from University of Wisconsin, Madison and an MS in Management from Cardinal Stritch College. Throughout her life, she remained a proud and supportive Badger Alumni. She worked extensively in rehabilitative services assisting disabled people in developing skills for independent living. Delores moved to Florida in 1985, to begin an adventure of world-wide travel, volunteered with the Guardian Ad Litem program and was an active member of Sylvan Abbey United Methodist Church, where she served in leadership roles, on various committees and served as a Visitor Chaplain at Meese Dunedin Hospital. Delores is survived by a son, Alan (Danita) Kessner of Seminole, and a daughter, Jean (Jim) Wurdeman of Tampa. She is further survived by one granddaughter, Brittany Wurdeman, also of Tampa, as well as several nieces and nephews, aunts and other extended family. Delores was predeceased by her brother Rodney Schroeder of Grafton, WI. She is loved in memory and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. She was a 1937 graduate of Lebanon High School, where she was a member of the girls's basketball team. She moved to St. Petersburg in 1957 with her husband, Delbert who preceeded her in death after 62 years of marriage. She was a mother and homemaker. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grand- children and great-grandchildren, especially at Disney World. She is survived by 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Jacquelyn and David Hanko, of Largo and Michelle and Jerry Granata, of Pinellas Park. Joan attended Ely, St. James and St. Margaret Mary Schools, Stanbrook Hall and the College of St. Scholastica. She graduated from Morgan Park High School, UMD and Middlebury College, Vermont. In 1950, Joan was united in marriage to Michael Jukich. During the 1960s and 70s, she taught French at UMD. In the 1980s and 90s, Joan was the U.S. Customs officer in Ely, also working various northern MN posts. A longtime resident of Morgan Park and Lakeside, she retired to East Skyline Parkway and New Port Richey. Joan was preceded in death by her husband in 1978 and her parents. PARDO, Peter Vincent Jr. 68, died peacefully on July 10, 2010 after a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of Tampa. His love of family, friends, golf and sports brought him great pleasure. His legacy of achievement during a 48-year tenure at McKesson Corporation was recognized by a number of pharmaceutical industry leadership positions and honor in the U.S. Pharmaceutical's Circle of Excellence. PESCE, Marie C. It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother at age 90. Born Marie Catherine Evans in the Bronx, NY, Feb. 1, 1920, Marie was predeceased by Alphonse Pesce "Funzy", her husband of 46 years in 1986 and her son Eugene in 1959. Left to cherish her memory are her other six sons, Alphonse Jr., Henry, Joey, Gerard, Mike and John. Marie has 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was a communicant of Queen of Peace Church in New Port Richey. We especially want to thank the Suncoast Hospice Foundation for all their help and support in her passing. PILSBURY, Carol M. 74, of St. Petersburg, passed away on July 6, 2010. Born on April 5, 1936 in Fowler, IN. She spent most of her life in Chicago. She was a former employee of Leverock's and Texas Cattle Co. restaurants. She was a Master Gardener who frequently volunteered her time at the Pinellas County branch of the University of Florida Extension Service. ROGERS, Muriel Adrith (Heckel) "Adie" passed away July 9, 2010 at home with her loving daughter, Laura at her side. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Muriel and William McMurray; and her loving husband, Frederic "Heck" Heckel, whom she devoted herself to and cared for each of them, until they went to God. She was an avid bowler, and was on several bowling leagues at Tarpon Lanes and Lane Glo. She worked all her life in the banking industry until retiring from Bank of America. WERNER, Richard Edward 86, born Aug. 30, 1923 died July 11, 2010. He served in the Army for 22 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Tommy; and grandson, Judson. He leaves behind his wife, Martha; sons, Richie and wife, Sherry, Lewis Robert and wife, Margaret, Richard Carswell, Robert Gene and wife, Adrienne; daughters, Lessie, and Patricia and husband, TJ. Richard had 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
