Hooters is headed to John's Pass Village. Founded in Clearwater, the chain that made its name on wings and waitresses in tight T-shirts signed a lease for a 6,000-square-foot spot on the boardwalk in Madeira Beach. Located between the Friendly Fisherman and Bubba Gump's Shrimp Co. restaurants, the new waterfront location opens in February.

Many homeowners think worst is over

Southern homeowners have grown more pessimistic about the future of home values, but a plurality are still convinced the bottom has already hit, according to a survey from real estate firm Zillow.

The homeowners confidence survey found 28 percent of homeowners in the South believing home values will fall in the next six months, more than any time over the past year. About 37 percent said they believe we're past the worst of the downturn.

Nationally, 33 percent said they were more pessimistic about falling values while 38 percent said they believed we're already past that point. About 28 percent predicted home values would drop in the next six months, up from 20 percent in the first quarter.
