'Shoot me,' bystander tells armed robber

Armed robbers had little luck in Bradenton on Friday. At an insurance company, a gunman arrived on a bicycle and yelled out to the owner, "Give me all the money," Bradenton.com reports.

That's when a bystander jumped in front of the robber and yelled, "Shoot me." The gunman struck the bystander in the head with the pistol and bolted out of the office, being chased by the bystander. The gunman escaped, but probably got the short end of it, since he was knocked off his bike by the driver during the pursuit.

Less than a half-hour later, another robbery went awry when Liberty Savings refused to buzz in a gunman. Deputies doubt it was the same guy, but say it is possible.
