Despite the fact that most Americans don't even know who she is, Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole will be a judge on the U.S. version of Simon Cowell's The X Factor, DigitalSpy reports. Well, that's fine; no one over the age of 17 knew who Paula Abdul was when she was on American Idol.
"I'm so excited to be taking part in the American version of The X Factor," said Cole, who has been a judge on the British version for three years. "I absolutely love it here in the U.K., and with the talent they have out in America, I'm sure we're going to find someone very special. I can't wait to get started."
Cole, the ex-wife of English soccer player Ashley Cole, will join Cowell and Antonio "L.A." Reid at the judge's table when the show starts this summer. Now the U.K. has two seats of their own to fill, which we think has to doom the show across the pond. But hey, who cares? We don't live there.
