'EVENING WITH THE RAYS' ON FRIDAY BENEFITS CHARITIES

The St. Petersburg Bar Foundation will present "An Evening with the Rays," a fundraiser for its charitable causes, on Friday. The evening includes group seating in the left field picnic area at Tropicana Field, unlimited food and soft drinks, and Rays autographed memorabilia. Birthday bash helps fund scholarships

The seventh annual Jim Fischer-Skip Carr Memorial Birthday Bash begins at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the St. Petersburg Country Club, 2000 Country Club Way S. The event raises money for the Fischer-Carr Scholarship Fund, which provides Doorways Scholarships for at-risk students in grades 4-9. No admission fee; donations accepted. (727) 821-2080.

Barbecue helps put presents under tree

They're calling it "Cinco de Mayo plus 9," a fiesta presented by Santa's Angels, which raises money year-round to ensure that needy children receive gifts and necessities during the Christmas season.
