"This campaign should be a serious and honest debate about who can best stand up to Democrats and Republicans in Washington on spending, debt and job creation. Instead, Senate President Haridopolos would rather reinvent his record while distorting others,'' Adam Hasner campaign adviser Rick Wilson said in a statement today.
"The truth is that Mike Haridopolos' first session as Senate President ended in chaos and embarrassment and will be most remembered for his broken promise on E-Verify. Despite presiding over a Republican super-majority,and despite being caught on video making a public promise to pass E-Verify, Senate President Haridopolos failed to get the job done. If Senate President Haridopolos won't deliver a popular conservative reform like E-Verify in the Florida Senate, how in the world can Republicans trust him to take on Harry Reid and the Democrats in the U.S. Senate?"
"What is truly a notable failure is Leader Hasner's failure to address any meaningful immigration reform during his 8 years in the House," responded Haridopolos spokesman Tim Baker. "Under Leader Hasner's newfound standard, his tenure was an abject failure. Leader Hasner's hypocritical statements reveal that he will say or do anything to get elected."
