Get the cameras ready for this one. After nearly 100 years, Pinellas and Hillsborough officials will have a tug of war Saturday to mark the upcoming centennial of Pinellas County's creation.
The 9 a.m. event at Courtney Campbell Causeway, near a boat ramp off the large part of the bay bridge, will symbolize the discussions that could have occurred in 1911, when the Legislature approved Pinellas' creation. State Rep. Jim Frishe is expected to present a copy of the 1911 law, Pinellas Commissioner John Morroni will issue a tug of war challenge.
Then county commissioners will duke it out. There will be no prizes, we're told. So Oldsmar is safe.
