UPTON TO SERVE SUSPENSION THURSDAY-FRIDAY

Rays CF B.J. Upton confirmed he will start serving his two-game suspension on Thursday, missing the series finale in Cleveland and the first game of the homestand vs. Baltimore on Friday. The discipline stems from his May 4 ejection.

"Obviously it's not something that you really want to happen or have to go through but I have to take responsibility for my actions,'' Upton said. "It happened, it's over with. You know what - we'll deal with it the next two days and get through it and I'll be back out there Saturday.''

Rays manager Joe Maddon said it was "really somewhat of a shame" for Upton to sit out now because he has been hitting so well, on a 10-for-23 tear.
