Open casting call for 'Rock of Ages' film in South Florida

How much did you love the Broadway musical Rock of Ages? Enough to find a way to South Florida this weekend? Good, because Adam Shankman's film adaptation is holding an open casting call for extras on Saturday, May 14, in Fort Lauderdale.

Filming begins in late May and Miami and Fort Lauderdale (obviously subbing in for L.A.'s Sunset Strip ... wouldn't it have been more convenient and cheaper to film at, you know, the Sunset Strip?). The film already has an all-star cast featuring Tom Cruise, Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Paul Giamatti and Julianne Hough. So what's missing?

What filmmakers need now is "people who can play rockers of the mid-1980s, and 35-45 year old straight-laced, anti-Rockers dressed in 1980s ultra conservative garb," according to the official press release from Ellen Jacoby Casting. "Please come dressed for the part! Everyone should bring a photo of themselves; it does not have to be a professional, but it must include your name, stats and phone number on the photo."

The open casting call is at the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale/Airport Hotel, 1825 Griffin Road (I-95 and Griffin Road) in Dania. It lasts from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oh, and they're also looking for cars from that era, so if you own one, bring a photo of your ride too.

(Couldn't they at least give a cameo to Constantine Maroulis, who starred in the Broadway stage version? Come on!)
