FOUR CANDIDATES ENTER FIELD FOR THIS YEAR'S 'GUV'NA' RACE

Four candidates have declared their candidacy to become the next Lutz "Guv'na," a fun take on civics that raises cash for local nonprofits.

The candidates will introduce themselves at the official kickoff event from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Old Lutz Elementary School, 18819 U.S. 41. Admission is $2.

Visitors will receive snacks while the candidates unveil clever slogans and answer not-so-serious questions. The candidates also will sell items in an effort to get an early lead on the fundraising race. The person who raises the most funds by the end of the Fourth of July parade will be declared Guv'na for the year.

The candidates are Annette Bellingar, historian of the Lutz-Land O'Lakes Woman's Club; Mitchell Smithey, a teacher's aide at Lutz Elementary; Sheila Tramontana of Sheila T Photography; and Kevin Wright, a member of the staff at Splash! An Ocean Grill restaurant.

For more information, call Suzin Carr at (813) 453-5256 or search for the "Guv'na Chronicles" page on Facebook.
