Remember in 2007 and 2008, everybody assumed Jeb Bush was quietly but clearly backing Mitt Romney because some of his closest political advisers were helping Romney? This cycle, a convention wisdom is setting in that Jeb wants Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels in the race. It started with early praise for Daniels, and this week Dave Weigel offers more of Jeb loving on Daniels:
.. .I knew that Bush had already been talking up Daniels, so I asked an open-ended question: Which states was he looking at as models of smart education reform? "Indiana's the one -- he hit it out of the park," said Bush. "Oklahoma, too. But Indiana set the bar."
Two things jumped out at me. One: Without me prompting him, he nodded at the "he" who'd signed the reform into law ...
