If the public's fascination with its baby cheetah is any indication, Busch Gardens should find plenty of fans for its new Animal Care & Nutrition Center that's scheduled to open this winter. Park visitors will be able to observe animals in a behind-the-scenes way getting fed, undergoing checkups and even during surgery, the park announced in a news release. According to the park, the nearly 16,000-square-foot facility will be built where the rhino exhibit is now located in the Nairobi area. The two major guest components will be the nutrition center and treatment rooms. The nutrition center will feature a kitchen similar in set-up to a cooking show on television. The treatment center will allow guests to watch as vets do checkups, treatments and surgeries. During treatments and surgeries, zoo educators will talk about what's taking place.
