THREE STEINBRENNER SENIORS CHOOSE COLLEGES

Three senior members of Steinbrenner's second-year baseball program have made their college decisions. Warriors outfielder Ryan Atkinson has committed to USF, while pitcher/first baseman/catcher Jason Wilton is planning to sign with San Jacinto (Calif.) Junior College and pitcher Daniel Perez has pledged to Eckerd. Atkinson hit .524 this spring with two homers and 17 RBIs. Wilton hit .474 and was second on the team with 27 hits and was 5-3 with one save and a 3.08 ERA in 361/3 innings. Perez pitched only 4 - 2/3 innings this season, pitching to a 3.00 ERA.

Freedom LB Tanner to sign with Jacksonville

Freedom LB Josh Tanner, a captain of the Patriots' 2010 squad, will sign his paperwork next week with Division I-AA Jacksonville University, Pats coach Tchecoy Blount announced.

Tanner (6-foot-3, 225 pounds) records 60 tackles, seven sacks and two fumble recoveries last season for the Patriots, who finished 4-6 in Blount's inaugural season.
