There's no way for us to keep up with all the network upfronts this week (turn to The Feed for that), but we do have time to ridicule perhaps the silliest decision yet: Fox has announced Seth MacFarlane will be leading a reboot of The Flintstones. We saw that show already: It's called Family Guy.
The network says the new series will begin production in the fall for a 2013 premiere, Deadline.com says, which is great for Seth, because he noted the first cartoon character he drew at age 2 was Fred Flintstone. "It's appropriate that events have come full circle, allowing me to produce the newest incarnation of this great franchise," MacFarlane said. "Plus, I think America is finally ready for an animated sitcom about a fat stupid guy with a wife who's too good for him."
At least he has a sense of humor about it. Now, if only it could differentiate itself from Family Guy, American Dad and The Cleveland Show, all of which are basically the same series. Hey, how about an animated version of The Honeymooners? That's a fresh idea. Wait, Hanna-Barbera may have done that in the 1960s. What was that show called again? Oh right, The Flintstones.
