Pair of Robinson athletes to sign

Robinson boys soccer team captain Zac Steuer and three-time state wrestling qualifier Chris Padilla are set to sign with college programs, the school announced.

Steuer has accepted a scholarship offer from Division I Mercer University in Macon, Ga. An honors student who collected four goals and two assists this past season, Steuer is believed to be the first player in program history to earn a Division I scholarship, Knights faculty member and football assistant Shawn Taylor said.

Padilla, fourth at 160 pounds at the Class 1A state meet in February, will sign Thursday with NAIA William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Padilla, who reached the state tourney at 160 his final three seasons, finished 48-9 as a senior.
