ARMED ROBBERY STARTS A CHASE

CLEARWATER

Authorities spread out through north Clearwater Wednesday evening chasing suspects in an armed robbery in Largo. The robbery was reported around 4:10 p.m. in the area of Roosevelt Boulevard and Dodge Street. Clearwater police were called to assist when the search moved into city limits, said Clearwater police spokeswoman Elizabeth Watts. At 6 p.m., the search was centered around Betty Lane and Overbrook Avenue. Police had set up a perimeter and were asking nearby residents to go into their homes and stay off the streets. Several police dogs were involved, as well as a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office helicopter. A suspect eventually was taken into custody, though no information about the identity was available Wednesday night.

Body is found floating in lake

A man's body was found Wednesday morning floating in a lake. Deputies said the death does not appear suspicious. Deputies found the man behind 520 Second Ave SE at about 8:15 a.m. No other details were available.
