ARUFE, Bernarda "Rosa" 93, of Tampa, passed away May 17, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. A native of San Juan y Martinez, Pinar del Rio, Cuba, and long time resident of Tampa. BECKMANN, Marjorie Greenleaf, 88, went home to the Lord on May 11, 2011. She passed peacefully in her home community of East Ridge Retirement Village in Cutler Bay, FL, enveloped in the love of family and friends. Her life was a rare and beautiful testimony of love and faith to the Lord, her family and her friends. She is survived by her beloved husband of over 69 years, Mr. Frederick George Beckmann II, 100. BONHAM, Marc Douglas age 48, a loving husband and good friend passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at his home in Oldsmar. He worked for the St. Petersburg Times prior to his prolonged illness. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, and he was a passionate bass player and fly fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Laurie, and their german shepherd, Barclay, as well as his parents, Doug and Linda Bonham of St. Joseph, MI and his in-laws, Lars and Jo Warn, of Clearwater. COLBERT, Raymond John was born on May 5, 1929 in Pittsburgh, PA. He passed away May 8, 2011, in Dallas, TX. He retired in 1985, from Bell of Pennsylvania and was a Ham Radio Operator and spoke to people all over the world - call sign was K3SDL. He enjoyed and was very active in garden railroads. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dona S. Colbert. Survivors include 3 children, David, Don and Michele Colbert and 2 grandchildren, John and Robert Colbert. DIAZ, Frances 52, of St. Petersburg, died May 15, 2011. She was a native of Bronx, NY, and lived in St. Petersburg. She was a great mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend. A natural born leader who was caring and understanding. She had such a contagious laugh that would brighten up anyone's day. She was unique and creative a diamond in the rough. She was compassionate and loving, and made an impact on many lives, she will never be forgotten. We will always love you. DRAGLAND, Barbara Ellen 71, of Clearwater, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Morton Plant Hospital surrounded by her children, Kristin and Bret. She was born in Chicago, IL and graduated from Augustana Hospital School of Nursing in 1960. Barbara and her family moved to Largo in 1977 from Fairfax, VA. Barbara was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, where she participated in the choir and bell choir. She was an RN at Morton Plant Hospital and a home health nurse. She had many enjoyments including rose gardening, reading, swimming and traveling. She is survived by her children, Kristin (Mark) Young of Caledonia, WI and Bret Dragland of Portland, OR; her sister, Judith (Philip) Showalter of Germantown, OH; and her cousin, Mary Ellen (Keith) Godbey of Parker, CO. HILL, Walter D. "Wally" 82, of Sun City Center, passed away May 13, 2011. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired as business manager for the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops in Tanglewood, MA. He served as financial manager for the Oregon Coast Music Association for 10 years and as treasurer for the Coalition of Mental Health and Aging in Sun City Center, for many years. JUCKER, James Victor 74, of San Luis Obispo, CA, and Bayonet Point, died in Bayonet Point on May 4, 2011, of complications of Lymphoma and heart disease. He was an engineering professor, assistant dean, and department chairman at Stanford University in California for over 40 years; he had also taught in Brazil and at Harvard Business School. He was an accomplished clarinetist and writer. He will be most remembered for his widespread interests, his gentleness, kindness, humor, and generosity. He was the beloved husband of Jo Anne Freeman, wife of 23 years. He is also survived by his mother, Lucille Jucker; sister, Janice Horton; daughter, Jennifer, and grandchildren, Jack and Gracie McKie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews, and aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Jennings Victor Jucker. KAPLAN, Ruth Gloria 88, died May 14, 2011. A native New Yorker, Mrs Kaplan worked for over 30 years as a General Services Manager for the U.S. Government. After her retirement in 1979, she and her husband Irving Kaplan moved to Port Richey. A member of the West Pasco County Chapter of Hadassah. LONG, Henry Curtis Sr. Nov. 14, 1919 - Jan. 29, 2011 Henry Long was born in Atlanta, GA and grew up in St. Petersburg. He was a WWII veteran who served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. Mr. Long was predeceased by his siblings, William G. Long and Martha Long Dann and his daughter, Linda Lee Long. He is survived by sons Henry Curtis Long, Jr., Stephen Allen Long, John David Long, and his daughter Shelley Long as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was born in Grosse Pointe, MI and moved to Orlando, and later to Marathon, where he lived for 40 years and recently moved to Homosassa. SCHIFFER, Jean 71, went to be with the Lord, May 7, 2011, due to PBC. She was born in the Bronx, NY and had resided in Largo for the past 32 years. To Jean family was everything, married to her husband Bob for 52 loving years. She leaves behind three children Rob, Laura, Rick; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She also leaves behind two brothers, Jim and John Saxman, and many friends and family. Jean was a homemaker and nurse, working locally at University General Hospital, Sun Coast Hospital, and Palm Garden of Largo and was an active member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. SHIPMAN, James A. 90, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Oak Hammock Assisted Living Facility in Gainesville, FL. He was born in Rochelle, GA, to the late William Fletcher and Margaret Ann Fussell Shipman. Mr. Shipman grew up in Perry, and was a 1938 Graduate of Live Oak High School. He was in the United States Marine Corps from 1939 to 1947, and served in combat in the South Pacific. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Nancy D. Shipman-Parker, his siblings Thomas Edison Shipman, L.C. SMITH, Arnetta M. 86, of Inverness, and formerly of Clearwater passed away May 15, 2011 under the loving care of Hernando Pasco Hospice Care Center of Inverness. She was born in Pembroke Ontario and has been a resident of Florida for 56 years coming from Niagara Falls NY. During her working years she was employed as an inventory manager by Sears. Mrs Smith was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Clearwater and Inverness. She was an accomplished musician and was known to her family as "The Organ Grinder" because of her love of music. SMITH, Kathy Cash 55, of Tampa, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2011. Kathy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her biggest hobby was taking care of her family and keeping them safe. She was often thought of as a second mother to many for her compassion, understanding and attentiveness. One of her most favorite past times was volunteering at her son, Michael's baseball games. Kathy was also an excellent cook, her specialty was lasagna. ZAWRYT, Pura Estrella 81, former New Jersey resident, died May 15, 2011 peacefully with her family by her side at Gulfside Regional Hospice in Trinity. Mrs. Zawryt was born Pura Estrella Fornes on Feb. 15, 1930 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. She immigrated to the United States at the age of 18 and lived for twenty years in New York working on Wall Street. She married and had four daughters before returning to her native island, where she worked for the Puerto Rico Telephone Company for ten years. She returned to the states and settled in New Jersey, and worked for 18 years as a Mail Room Supervisor for Brookdale Community College. Within the course of this period, her husband, Angel M. Torres, passed away. Some ten years later, she met and married Mr. William Zawryt. Not long after her retirement, her second husband passed away. She then relocated to New Port Richey, to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Iris & Jose Perez. Throughout her life, her warmth, her kindness and her lively spirit touched the hearts and souls of her family and friends. She is survived by four daughters, Alma Velez, Provi Velez, Iris Perez and Mildred Torres, her daughter-in-law, Maribel Perez; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. As per her request, she will be cremated. A celebration of her life will take place at: 4405 Gem Court, New Port Richey, FL 34655 on June 18, 2011 at 11 am.
