Rubio makes robo calls in tight New York Congressional race

Sen. Marco Rubio has recorded a phone message to voters for a Republican Congressional candidate in western New York, a sign of how that race has turned in Democrats' favor over the GOP's controversial Medicare proposal.

"This is Senator Marco Rubio with a short but important message. DC needs strong conservatives like Jane Corwin. We have changed the debate, we are moving in the right direction but we are in the middle of the fight. Jane Corwin will be a voice we need to keep that momentum up. Join me in supporting Jane and please go vote this coming Tuesday, May 24th in the Special Election. It is CRITICAL. Thank you so much for your time.

Corwin was widely expected to win but then House Republicans introduced a plan to convert Medicare into a voucher program. Controversy ensued and Democrat Kathy Hochul surged. The race has since attracted national figures on both sides.

Rubio should hope it goes better than the last election he got involved in, the Jacksonville mayor's race.
