ALCOHOL CAUSED SPRING BREAK DEATH

Madeira Beach

The autopsy report for the University of Florida freshman who died at a Madeira Beach condo in March confirmed that she died of alcohol poisoning. Molly Ammon, 19, a graduate of Plant High School, was on spring break the weekend of March 13. After a night of drinking, her parents said, Ammon's friends found her dead in the morning. Authorities would not release an official cause of death until the Medical Examiner's Office completed its examination. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said the investigation into Ammon's death is still open.

More time sought for bail decision

A 33-year-old man accused of fatally shooting Walter "J.J." Revear made his first court appearance Thursday, but his attorney asked for more time before seeking bail. Jimmy Lee Cruz was arrested late Thursday on a charge of second-degree murder. Police say Revear, 28, was in and out of prison since he was 12. He was shot in the head by Cruz after a fight outside a bar. Attorney Michael Gonzalez asked Hillsborough Circuit Judge Walter Heinrich to set bail next week. If convicted, Cruz could get 25 years to life in prison, Heinrich said.
