The city of Tampa is looking for volunteers to serve on several city boards, commissions and advisory councils.
The positions are not paid, and people interested in serving may be required to file financial disclosure forms. Opportunities to serve are coming up for the following groups:
- Architectural Review Commission, which hears requests for variances to the city ordinance designed to protect historically significant buildings and landmarks. Members serve three-year terms and must have a demonstrated interest, experience or knowledge in architecture, historic preservation, history, architectural history, planning, archaeology, development, real estate appraisals, real estate marketing, law or other related disciplines. - Historic Preservation Commission, which recommends designations, conservation districts and historic districts. Members serve three-year terms. Call Dennis Fernandez at (813) 274-8920.
- Equal Business Opportunity Advisory Council, which promotes city programs to help local small businesses and women and minority contractors. Members serve two-year terms. Call Gregory Hart at (813) 274-5522.

Applications must be turned in to the Office of the City Clerk, Old City Hall, 315 E Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, FL 33602 by 5 p.m. June 1. Applicants will have three minutes to speak to the City Council, which will make the appointments, at 10 a.m. June 23.
