The best season in Sunlake history is resulting in some college opportunities for Seahawk seniors.
Athlete Rashaud Daniels and defensive end/fullback Jerome Samuels have landed offers from Central Methodist, Sunlake coach Bill Browning said Tuesday morning. Both players plan to visit the NAIA school in Missouri this weekend.
Daniels was one of the Seahawks' top all-around players. He rushed for 478 yards and four TDs, tallied six receiving touchdowns and 451 yards and threw for 42 yards. At defensive back, Daniels recorded 62 tackles and three interceptions.
The 5-foot-9, 175-pound speedster was a first-team all-Sunshine Athletic Conference selection at defensive back.
Samuels, (6-2, 230) was a bruising rusher and tough pass rusher during his senior season. He led Sunlake with 536 rushing yards and six touchdowns and was tied for the team lead with five sacks. He scored the game-winning two-point conversion in Sunlake's 22-21 playoff win over Ocala Vanguard – the first postseason victory in school history.
