In August, Boca Ciega linebacker Elijah McClendon committed to Middle Tennessee State. On Monday, MTSU pulled McClendon's offer, days away from national signing day Feb. 1. "It's a tough situation for Elijah because there's not a lot of time left," Bogie coach Antez Brinson said. "Most schools have spots filled up already. But we're still working on a couple of things."
McClendon worked hard in the offseason to get noticed, even switching to safety to help his scholarship chances. Coaches told him the MTSU offer was pulled in part because the school hired a new linebackers coach. Brinson said a few schools are still interested, including Tennessee-Martin.
