ALLEN, Edward P. "Ned" July 14, 1930 - Jan. 23, 2012. Ned was born in New Haven, CT, where his father was a surgeon at St. Raphael's Hospital. He attended Hopkins Grammar School and earned his B.S. degree from Oberlin College, followed later by a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Florida. In 1957, he moved to St. Petersburg to teach biology and coach swimming at Northeast high School, a position he held for over 30 years. He was a member of the St. Petersburg Masters Swim Team. In his retirement, he served as a volunteer citizen representative on several Pinellas County boards involved with transportation. He is survived by a sister Nancy Hillman of Minneapolis; brother Philip Allen of Bethany, CT; daughter Mary Helen Albrecht of La Quinta, CA; son Edward Allen of Syracuse, NY; two grandchildren, and longtime companion Ingrid L. Kohler of St. Petersburg.

ARNDT, Rita of Mission Hills, Clearwater, died, Jan. 21. Rita was born in England and traveled to New Kensington, PA to marry the love of her life, Myrt. They moved to Florida 17 years ago to enjoy retirement. Rita survived Myrt by 12 years, missing him every day and I take comfort knowing they will be reunited. Rita left behind four children, Michele (Dale) Caperell, Keith (Natalie), Roger, Butch; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. Rita will be missed by all that knew her and remembered by her sense of style, incredible smile and gorgeous blue eyes. My heart will forever be saddened by her absence. I love you mom and I will miss you so very much. You will now be my special angel watching over me with love and the smile I will always remember.

BACON, Mary Rose (nee Riley), 74, passed away at the Villas of Belleair on Jan. 24, 2012. She is survived by her husband of 50' years, Robert; 4 children: Elizabeth van Blaricom of Carpentersville, IL, Mary Kay Matossian of Ukiah, CA., Robert Bacon, Jr., of Largo, and Patricia Klop of Lake Zurich, IL; and 4 grandchildren. Mary Rose was born and raised in Miami and moved here from Baltimore, MD in 1982. She graduated from Barry College of North Miami. She attended Anona Methodist Church, was a member of the choir there and also active in real estate, court recording, hearing aid installation, china painting, calligraphy, opera and dancing. BITTING, Lois King 89 of Lecanto formerly of St. Petersburg went to the Lord on Jan. 22, 2012. She was predeceased by daughter, Carolyn Schlesinger, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by daughters, Beverlee (John) Ratliff, Deborah Likens, Terry Geldart; and son, Michael (Beverly) Bitting; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. BLACK, Alta M. 85, of Clearwater, passed away Jan. 24, 2012. Alta was born May 28, 1926 to John Clinton and Luria Ellen Tobin in Tampa. A true Florida Native, she moved from Tampa to Pinellas County as a young girl and attended Largo High School. As a teenager in 1943, she attended a USO dance where she met the love of her life, Francis S. Black. The two were married shortly thereafter on June 8, 1943. Alta is preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Francis; son, Tracy Black. She is survived by her children, Steve (Judy) Black, Danny (Barbara) Black, Janet (Gary) Sica, Brenda (Ray) Stevens, Dana Allen, Gayle (Pete) Howdeshell, and Pat (Mark) Erickson; daughter-in-law, DeeDee Black; sister, Sarah Wells; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. BOSSOM, Mary M. of Ruskin, peacefully passed away Jan. 8, 2012, at Life Path Hospice in Sun City Center. Mary served our country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corp from November, 1944 to May, 1946. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Borden's Dairy in Lake Charles, LA, retiring after 30 years, at which time she and her husband, Jack moved to Apollo Beach. Mary was very active in ABWA in LA and in 1971, was named Woman of the Year. She remained active in ABWA in Florida, was an avid golfer, loved to work in the garden especially with her orchids and enjoyed traveling all over the world. She was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Texada, and her husband, Jack P. Bossom I. She is survived by her step children, Patsy (Dorsey) Peterman, Linda (Jeffrey) Peterman I, Jack Bossom II; her grandchildren, G. Quinn Texada, Megan Texada, Jeffrey (Cindy) Peterman, William Bossom, Elizabeth Bossom; her great-grandchildren, Marissa Texada and Gavin Texada and other beloved family members. BRANNER, Iris E. 96, of Plant City departed this life Jan. 24, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, William. CAPPADONA, Thomas Peter 51, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at home. He was born in Jersey City, NJ, and moved here in 1966, from Palisades Park, NJ. CHAPMAN, Carroll B. Jr. 85, of St. Petersburg, died Jan 20. He was born in Rochester, MI where he and his family had been long time residents before moving to Florida. He graduated from Michigan State as an Electrical Engineer and was a member of PSI Upsilon Fraternity. He is survived by his wife, Mary; 2 children, Susan and Barney and 3 grandchildren.

CHASE, Frederick Jr. 80, died on Jan. 3, 2012 in Waukegan, IL. He was the son of Virginia Gerould and Frederick Chase II. He attended Clearwater High School and Phillips Exeter Academy. He graduated from Dartmouth College, followed by service in the U.S. Marine Corps. He graduated from the U.F. law school, then practiced law for 37 years in New Port Richey, where he was a charter member of the Rotary Club. Fred was predeceased by one son, Nathan Chase. He is survived by his partner, Lynne Atherton of Waukegan, IL; sister, Beth Chase of Raleigh, NC; brother, John and wife Priscilla Chase of Palm Harbor; and son, Robert Chase of Denver, CO; also by Nathan's widow, Susan Chase; his former wife, Nancy Dickinson Chase; son, Daniel Chase with partner Jennifer Morgan; and two grandsons, Sam and Benjamin Chase, all of whom reside in Baltimore, MD. A celebration of Fred's life will be held at 2 pm, Feb 9th, by the Unitarian-Universalists of Clearwater, 2470 Nursery Rd. His ashes will be interred in Hanover, NH. DIAZ, Armando 90, of Tampa, passed away January 24, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Dora Diaz; and his beloved son, Mondie (Boy) Diaz. Armando served his country proudly with the United States Army during the Pacific Theatre of WWll. He was a loving and caring father and grandfather who will be dearly missed. Survivors include his son, Bobby (Vicky) Diaz; daughters, Marie (Frank) Mayorquin, and Cynthia (Alan) Jones; grandchildren, David Fuentes, Anthony Fuentes, Melissa Holoway, Chris Jones, Robert and Elyssa Diaz; great-grand-childrean, Josh, Jacob, and Jordan Holoway, D.J. and Yvette Fuentes and Mackenzie Jones; brother, Charlie Diaz; and many loving nieces, nephews and other family members. ELLIOTT, Kathleen 63, retired Largo High School teacher, succumbed to breast cancer on Jan. 18, 2012. A native of Bordentown, NJ, teaching was her career goal. She spent 9 years in night school preparing, and was a teacher in Pinellas County for over 27 years. She is survived by her husband, Walt; children, Ron Melfy and Terry Dasilva; and stepchildren, Jon, Danielle, and Josh Elliott. FERRENTINO, Edward Joseph, Sr., 57, passed away Jan. 22, 2012. Born in Queens, NY. He was the owner/operator of Ferrentino & Son, Inc. in Ocala. In the early 70's Eddie was the youngest person to obtain their contractor's license in Pinellas County. He was the 2002 Marion County "Small Business Person of the Year". FUCILLO, Edward A. 87, of Palm Harbor, passed away on Jan. 24, 2012. Born in New York, he was a resident of Pinellas County since 1978. After serving in WWII as a first lieutenant pilot in the Army Air Corps, he graduated from Georgetown University and St. Johns Univ. Law School. He became a member of the NY Bar and worked for GMAC as Corporate Secretary for 23 years. In Florida, he was an entrepreneur and owned several successful businesses. He considered his most successful achievements, his wonderful marriage of 62 years to Margaret and his 7 children. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Fucillo; 7 children, Kathy Kollen, Mary Anne Boone, Edward Fucillo, John Fucillo, Meg Vaughan, Sharon Earley, and Carolyn Fucillo; 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. GANLEY, Joanne M. 80, of Port Richey, died Jan. 24, 2012. She is survived by son, Timothy; daughters, Lisa, Karen, Ellen, Gail, Meg and Robin; sister, Barbara; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Adrienne, Adam, Jordan and Jeremy; and great-grand- children, Timothy, Nicholas, Samantha, Harli, Marli, and David. Joanne was predeceased by husband, William and sons, William and Thomas. She was a long-time Florida resident, but a Bostonian at heart. She graduated from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Brighton, MA at the age of 19. GARCIA, Joe R. a native of Tampa, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at the age of 94. Joe was preceded by a brother, Florentino Garcia; a sister, Honora (Nora) Giunta; and a son, Richard Anthony Garcia. Mr. Garcia is survived by a brother, Chief M/Sgt. (USAF, Ret.) Fernando R. Garcia; a son, Frederick Allen Garcia; two grandchildren, Michelle E. Garcia-Alatorre (Lu Alatorre); and Christopher R. JACKSON, Louise Ann "Lois" 96, of Tampa, blessed, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Jan. 20, 2012. Born on Nov. 17, 1915, in Grand Cayman, BWI. She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Lawrence. They were married 56 years and loved each other dearly. Also preceded in death by daughter Bernice Dean and her son Gregory Elison. She leaves her remaining 7 children, Cedric "Mickey" Jackson (Joyce), Lois "Ginger" Roberts, Clyde "Larry" Jackson (Nancy), Mary Land, Gary Jackson (Sue), Sadie Muley (Joe), Julia Crowe (Tom); 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She achieved so much in her 96 years. Her proudest accomplishment was when she became a U.S. citizen after moving to Tampa in 1944, with her family. An avid reader and self-educated aside from only having a 5th grade education, she completed her high school diploma in only one year at Chamberlin High School in 1974. She was a life-long member of West Hillsborough Baptist Church where she taught Children's Sunday School for many years. She worked at Maas Brothers in the 70's and at Martin's Uniforms. LANTZ, Donald Lee Roy 81, of Odessa, died peacefully at his home on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012. He was born March 2, 1930, in North Platte, NE. Don lived in Florida for 50 years, teaching Educational Psychology at the University of Florida. He served as a Chaplain in the Army Reserve for 30 years. In 1979, Don and Marilyn moved to Odessa where he took pleasure in raising animals at his farm and sharing this enthusiasm with the neighborhood. Don was a connector of people. He made new friends wherever he lived or visited. He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Marilyn Olson Lantz. McCLINTOCK, Lewis "Mac" peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, with his beloved daughters present, at the age of 86. Mac was among the youngest U.S. bomber pilots in WWII, flying in the European theater. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth, whom he married in 1945. After the war, Mac attended and graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Physics. After living in Europe and the Pacific Northwest, they settled in Palm Harbor, where he and Ruth raised their two daughters while he worked as a Aerospace Engineer at Honeywell. A humble and selfless hero to all who knew him, we will remember him most for the boundless love and wise insights he gave to his family. NEMETH, Helen Kerekes born in Lorain, OH, May 21, 1924, passed peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 19, 2012, at Morton Plant Hospital. She graduated from Lorain High School, Class of '42, and from Western Reserve as a Registered Nurse. She began her nursing career as a cadet nurse during WWI. She worked at Elyria Memorial Hospital in the E.R. for many years, while active in St. Vincent de Paul Parish and the Hungarian Club. She relocated to Clearwater in 1966, where she continued her career in nursing at Suncoast Hospital. She expanded the ER, becoming Head Nurse and then Director of Nursing, retiring after 41 years of service. She is also is cited for implementing the EMS in Pinellas County. Her hobbies include being a life member of the Nurses Health Society Program and was given a 30 year participation award. She is also a member of the Cleveland Clinic and the Women's Veteran Memorial Organization. She excelled in Hungarian cooking and pastry making. She is predeceased by her son, Louis Gene Nemeth. Survivors include her daughters, Judith Hunter, Kathleen Wildman and one son Brian and his wife, Michele Nemeth; a grandson, Jonathan Nemeth; two granddaughters, Allison Rousch and her husband Bill; and Vanessa Wildman. ROBINSON, Donald Richard 62, of Oldsmar passed on Jan. 20, 2012, at Brookside Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Robinson. A native of California, Don attended the University of Hawaii and after graduating, pursued a career in the airline industry. In 1974, Don was hired by Trans International Airlines, a charter airline based in Oakland CA, becoming one of the first male flight attendants to be hired in this career field. He traveled the world during his ten year stay with TIA, then moved on to US Airways where he completed 24 years of service as a customer service agent upon his passing. Don was passionate about his work, never knew a stranger, and was much loved by everyone fortunate enough to have known him. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

TERHUNE, Douglas R. "Doug" 56, of Wesley Chapel, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012 after a brief illness at Florida Hospital-Fletcher. Doug was born June 23, 1955 in Bay Shore, Long Island, NY. He is survived by his loving wife, Wendy Verink-Terhune; his two daughters, Kathleen McBride (Matthew) and Amy Manning; two sons, Bryce Womeldurf (Nina), and Cody Verink; 3 grandchildren Alex, Tristen and Nicholas; his father Donn Terhune; mother, Janet R. Robinson; step-father, Evan Robinson; three brothers, John Terhune, David Terhune and Ted Terhune (Debra); four stepsisters, Kathleen Brugger (Paul), Susan Alpaugh (Bill), Beth Robinson, and Audrey McRae (Matthew); sister-in-law, Barbara Verink, several nieces and nephews and his loyal sheltie, Lacey. He was pre-deceased by his stepmother, Lena Terhune. Doug was an avid golfer and a huge Gator fan and could always make you laugh.
