ALLEN, Jean William 88, a resident of Palm Harbor, devoted husband to Doris A. Allen, passed away surrounded by his loving children on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012 in New York City.Born in New York City on May 1, 1923 to the late George S. and Maude Lillian (Paulding) Allen, he spent the majority of his life on Long Island and divided the last 13 years between his summer home in Avon, CT and residency in Palm Harbor. Jean honorably served his country during the Second World War as a member of the USMC.A graduate of Pace University in New York City, Jean received his bachelor's degree in business accounting before going into the box construction industry.Before his retirement in the mid nineties, he proudly owned and operated Wallace Packaging Corp. in Masbeth, NY for over 50 years. During his leisure time, Jean enjoyed golfing, watching sports, and being on the water.He leaves his wife of 64 years, Doris A. BAKER, Bliss A. 90, of Clearwater, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 20, 2012. He is survived by Helen, his wife of 69 years, their two sons: Larry and Dean; daughter-in-law, Janet; three grandchildren: Heather Calanni, Kristin Trefz, and Gregory Baker; five great- grandchildren: Ashley Crock, Samantha Trefz, Aaron Trefz, Nicolas Calanni and A.J. Calanni. Bliss honorably served his country for four years in the Army during WWII and had a successful 36 year career with General Motors as a supervisor in the Material Department of the GM Bristol Road Stamping Plant in Flint MI. After their retirement, Bliss and Helen enjoyed many years as snowbirds between Michigan and Florida before moving permanently to Clearwater, in 2005. CHASE, Frederick Jr. 80, died on Jan. 3, 2012 in Waukegan, IL. He was the son of Virginia Gerould and Frederick Chase II. He attended Clearwater High School and Phillips Exeter Academy. He graduated from Dartmouth College, followed by service in the U.S. Marine Corps. He graduated from the U.F. law school, then practiced law for 37 years in New Port Richey, where he was a charter member of the Rotary Club. Fred was predeceased by one son, Nathan Chase. He is survived by his partner, Lynne Atherton of Waukegan, IL; sister, Beth Chase of Raleigh, NC; brother, John and wife Priscilla Chase of Palm Harbor; and son, Robert Chase of Denver, CO; also by Nathan's widow, Susan Chase; his former wife, Nancy Dickinson Chase; son, Daniel Chase with partner Jennifer Morgan; and two grandsons, Sam and Benjamin Chase, all of whom reside in Baltimore, MD. FERNANDEZ, Honorina Martinez, 96, known to all her family and friends as Nori, was born Feb. 16, 1915 and passed away Jan. 26, 2012. She was raised in Arguebanes, Cantabria, Spain. Born the 6th of 12 children to parents, Mariano Martinez and Natalia Fernandez. Nori worked at El Encanto Cleaners in Ybor City for 50 years. Preceded in death by her son-in-law, Harry Moradiellos. She is survived by her loving family, husband of 73 years, Feliciano Fernandez; children, Begonia Moradiellos, Marie Terry (Bill) and Miguel Fernandez (Irene); 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. LAUDENSLAGER, Kenneth H. 64 of South Pasadena, passed away Tuesday Jan. 24, 2012. Surviving include his loving wife, Nancy Angelovich Laudenslager; his sister-in-law, Betty Laudenslager, and niece Tracy Bruner. He is preceded in death by his parents Naomi & Herman Laudenslager and his brother, Herman. Originally from Kalamazoo, MI, he proudly served his country with 2 tours of duty as an Army soldier in the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Soldiers Medal and Purple Heart. Kenn later graduated from Ohio Northern University, School of Law in 1977 and was a practicing attorney until retiring in Florida in 1991 due to medical challenges. He remained a Member of the Michigan Bar. Over the years, many people would comment "what an inspiration he was" because he fought his health problems so valiantly. OELKERS, William T. Jr. 88, of Stuyvesant, NY, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012 in Clearwater. Born in Akron, OH, April 6, 1923, he was the son of the late William T. and Charlotte (Praet) Oelkers Sr. Mr. Oelkers was a WWII veteran in the U.S. Navy and a Cable Maintenance Supervisor for New Jersey Bell Telephone, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Stuyvesant Falls, NY and was involved with the Boy Scouts of America in New Jersey for 45 years. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers and a part-time winter resident of St. Petersburg. He is survived by two daughters, Leanne Sparks of Valrico and Dale Buckler of North Wales, PA; a son, William T. Oelkers III of Rossman, NY; one brother, Kenneth Oelkers of Kinderbrook, NY; 4 grand-children, Michael and Rebecca Buckler, William T. Oelkers IV, Anisa Oelkers; and several nieces; and nephews. PERRY, Irene Shull was born in Indianapolis on May 20, 1922, and died Jan. 18, 2012, in Lake City. Irene graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and was a long time employee of the Personnel Department, and a retiree of The Indianapolis Star/News, who resided in Largo, from 1993-2010. PRESTON, Brandyn A. 20, of Tampa passed away on Jan. 22, 2012 at home from a senseless act of violence that occurred 7 months ago. PUGH, Jeanne Crossley of Lake Seminole Square passed away at her residence on Jan. 27, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her son Randall Scott Pugh and her grandson Theodore Clifford Pugh of Fredericksburg, VA, and by her granddaughters Mary Lisa Clore and Courtney Sawyer Boyle, all of Denver, CO, the children of her late son Dr. Steven T. Pugh and her beloved niece and namesake Jeanne Bussiere; other nieces and nephews and three great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her husband H. Theodore Pugh and son Howard Frederick Pugh. She was a graduate of the State University of New York at Brockport and held other degrees. She was granted one of six seats for U.S. reporters on Pope John Paul II's press plan during his 10 city tour of Canada. She was awarded the best writer award from the National Religion Newswriters Association. She served in various capacities for American United for Separation of Church and State and spoke on such issues before numerous church and civic groups. Michael requested a private graveside service with his son, Amari's family, the Savvas family, the Seberry family, girlfriend Liz who stood by his side everyday, and 2 close friends. A Greek Orthodox service was performed. He attended St. Pete College and earned a mechanics diploma from PTEC. SCHAFFNER, Helen Louise (nee Osborne) age 90 A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 at Clearwater Center, 1270 Turner Street, Clearwater. Officiating will be the Rev. William Magee of St. Matthias Lutheran Church, Clearwater. Mrs. Schaffner died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012 at her home in Clearwater. A resident of Clearwater for the past twenty years, Helen had previously lived in Seattle, WA, Durango, CO, Topeka, KS, and Downer's Grove, IL. She was born in Oak Park, IL on Dec. 5, 1921. She attended Northern Illinois University and worked for Boeing in Seattle and for the American Bar Association in Chicago. She was a Gray Lady Nurse in WWII, a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a volunteer for the Servicemen's Association. She was a member of St. Matthias Lutheran Church, enjoyed being an organist and choir member, and worked with the Lutheran Church Women's Association. Beloved wife of Donald; loving mother of David (Meg) and Anne; cherished grandmother of Ashley and Stephen Martin; and great-grandmother of Owen. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, William Kirk and Bessie Mason Osborne and her dear sister Marilyn (Anatole) Mankivsky.

TOMLINSON, Judith Snowberg 69, of Tampa, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, Jan. 25, of complications from liver disease. Judy was born in Minneapolis, MN, attended Richfield High School and Macalester College, and graduated from the University of Minnesota. It was at her 25th high school reunion that Judy became reacquainted with fellow graduate Bruce, her second husband and love of her life. Judy was the managing director at Sharn Inc., a privately held medical-supply company based in Tampa that she helped build into a global business. Her employees and associates fondly remember "Ms. Judy" for her strong leadership and sense of humor. From 2004 to 2011, she and Bruce also lived part-time in Paris, France, where they made many friends. They took particular delight in sharing their Paris apartment and this beautiful city with so many visitors over the years. Judy enjoyed traveling throughout her life; with family and friends she visited places including Mexico, the Bahamas, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, East Africa, South Africa, and Vietnam. She had a gift for languages and spoke French, Spanish, and Italian. Judy was a voracious reader all her life and made sure she gave books as Christmas gifts every year; she also was a dedicated book club member. Judy had a great sense of fun and loved to host parties, sharing her culinary talents with her neighbors and friends. She is survived by her husband, Bruce; mother, Charlotte; brothers Dean (Cindy) and Brian (Kerry); sister Mary; daughters Holly (John Alsterda), Jodie, Amy (Steve Kollman), and Janel (Jason Martin); six grand-children; and two great-grandchildren. WINCHELL, Gracie 86, of Tampa passed away Jan. 26, 2012, at Tampa General Hospital. She was born in High Point, NC and moved to Tampa in 1970. She was Baptist by faith and attended Southside Baptist Church. She was a member of the Ladies of the Elks, volunteered at the VA Hospital and at South Tampa Rehab. Gracie enjoyed bowling, bingo, movies and shopping at Macys. She is survived by her loving family of nieces; nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great- niece and nephew.
