John Kelly, tight ends coach at Armwood the past two seasons, was named Strawberry Crest's football coach Friday.

After a year as an assistant coach at Edward Waters College, an NAIA school in Jacksonville, and six months as a graduate assistant at USF, Kelly went to Cambridge Christian and was the Lancers' head coach in 2008. He took a teaching job at Strawberry Crest when the school opened in 2009 and served as former coach Todd Donohoe's offensive coordinator.

"My first time as a head coach I was gung ho, ready to go, and thought I knew it all, like everyone does," Kelly said. "This time, I'm going in with different expectations and a different set of experiences to build on." Read more about Kelly's hire at tampabay.com/hometeam.
